I grew up in Ireland and only knew of Thanksgiving through TV shows and the like. It has come to be a holiday I really enjoy. This year I had an incredible Multi Ethnic Potluck Thanksgiving . Friends from many countries brought food along to a bar in NYC’s west village which had to close for several days during Hurricane Sandy we realized we had much to be thankful for. It was interesting to see people much like me who did not grow up with the Thanksgiving but wanted to celebrate in their own ways.
I was too busy talking to take many food photographs but there was food from The Philippines, Italy,
Mexico, China, Japan and many more there was even good old American turkey. I did not bring Irish food but made some breads, cookies and quiches.
It goes to show are if you with family or friends it is all about being with good people and reflecting on the year. I am certainly thankful for the people in my life and for living in a city which allows to me meet such a variety of people.
